Cline and Roo Code with RelayRouter
Cline and its fork Roo Code are VS Code coding agents that accept any OpenAI-compatible or Anthropic-compatible endpoint. RelayRouter offers both, so you can choose the provider type that matches the group your key belongs to.
#Option A: OpenAI Compatible provider
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
API Provider | OpenAI Compatible |
Base URL | https://relayrouter.io/v1 |
API Key | A RelayRouter key for an OpenAI-protocol group |
Model ID | Exact id from the models page, for example gpt-6-astra |
#Option B: Anthropic provider with a custom base URL
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
API Provider | Anthropic |
Use custom base URL | https://relayrouter.io |
Anthropic API Key | A RelayRouter key for a Claude group |
Model | claude-sonnet-4-6, claude-opus-5-5 or any Claude id in the group |
Prompt caching and extended thinking toggles in Cline are passed through unchanged. The Claude groups on the models page differ in rate; the group you pick when creating the key decides the price.
#Verify the key
terminalbash
curl https://relayrouter.io/v1/chat/completions \
-H "Authorization: Bearer sk-your-relayrouter-key" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"model":"claude-sonnet-4-6","messages":[{"role":"user","content":"ping"}]}'#Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
401 | Wrong or disabled key, or empty balance |
404 | Model not in the key's group, or the provider type does not match the group's protocol |
Context window errors | Set the model's context size in Cline to the value your model supports; long tasks are cheaper on a Fast group |
